We recognize and highlight the amazing contributions from the Asian American/Pacific Islander communities.

The month was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States in 1843. Asian and Pacific Islanders and their descendants have added to the rich fabric of American life from the moment they came to this country. They’ve added much to the fields of science, art, technology, music, and politics, and in sharing and spreading parts of their culture and inventing a new culture out of their diaspora in America. It is this courage to seek opportunity, curiosity and creativity to innovate and change, and the strength of the community that should be honored and celebrated this month

We should not only recognize our commonalities but open our ears and minds to the unique experiences of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. We are stronger when we aim to understand one another. All month long we’re using our platform to highlight the community’s voices and the stories they have to tell.
