Audacy Washington D.C. Raises Over $240,000 to Help End Childhood Cancer
Audacy Washington D.C. is proud to share that El Zol 107.9 (WLZL-FM) has raised $246,720 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This year’s tally brings the total raised by El Zol to over $2.1 million dollars to cure childhood cancer since 2016.
“This is an amazing task for a one-day radiothon in this economy and a testament of the response that our audience shows to our brand El Zol 107.9 and our on-air talent,” said Candy Cintron, Brand Manager, El Zol 107.9. “Thank you to all our coworkers who gave us strength and incentivized us to keep going and our listeners who day in and out surprise us with their love and support.”
The station broadcasted from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET on July 15, when on-air talent Patricia, Chepe, Elsa Sanchez, Negro Suncar, Juan Romero and DJ EZ encouraged listeners to become “Angeles de Esperanza” with a monthly pledge. The broadcast featured interviews with local St. Jude cancer patients and their families, along with many messages from kids and patients currently at the hospital. Popular musical group Banda MS shared encouraging messages to listeners on the station’s social media accounts.
