“Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom The Podcast” Brings Legacy of Iconic Television Series to Life in All-New Educational and Entertaining Tales From the Animal Kingdom
PHILADELPHIA, PA – July 10, 2024 – Mutual of Omaha and Pineapple Street Studios, a division of leading premium podcast network Audacy Podcasts, announced today the launch of “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom The Podcast.” The all-new original podcast based on the iconic and Daytime Emmy® Award-nominated television series, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild, marks the series’ first foray into the podcast space with the launch on July 16.
Each week, listeners will explore the world of wildlife conservation in a whole new way with the television series’ Co-Hosts Peter Gros, veteran wildlife expert, and wildlife ecologist Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant. With many species under the threat of extinction, the co-hosts, alongside field experts, will take to the land, air and sea over the course of 12 episodes to discuss a variety of wildlife efforts.
“Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom has been inspiring generations to protect wildlife for decades through the iconic series that paved the way for wildlife programming,” said Jennifer Wulf, Vice President, Brand Marketing, Mutual of Omaha. “By entering the podcast space, our goal is to reach a wider audience and continue to celebrate the conservation efforts of so many experts and we’re excited to do so with Audacy’s Pineapple Street Studios.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with Mutual of Omaha to bring this new iteration of the legendary, iconic ‘Wild Kingdom’ series to listeners of all ages,” said Bari Finkel, Senior Vice President and Co-Head, Audacy’s Pineapple Street Studios. “Peter Gros and Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant are an engaging and entertaining team whose contagious love and deep knowledge of animals, and our place among them, will inspire and inform.”
Harnessing Empathy, Science and Technology to Protect the Wild Kingdom
Over the course of the podcast series, Peter Gros and Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant will be joined by leading experts for meaningful and inspiring conversations, such as:
- Carlos Gauna, a former wedding photographer whose experiments with drone photography during the pandemic led to a career studying shark behavior.
- Beth Pratt of the National Wildlife Federation and leading advocate for a mountain lion that created a wildlife coexistence movement.
- Jenny Adler, an underwater photojournalist who brings the wonders of our world’s oceans to the surface.
- Jeff Ewelt, ZooMontana’s Executive Director, shares a conservation comeback story that starts on a ranch and ends in a high-tech lab involving cloning.
Meet the Co-Hosts of the Series and the Podcast
Since its network television premiere in 1963, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom has been one of the most loved and respected wildlife programs in television history. For many Americans, Wild Kingdom was their first exposure to new species and faraway places. The series brought tales from the animal kingdom to millions of homes and started a new family tradition. Today, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild, the most-watched weekend wildlife show across broadcast and cable television, can be enjoyed on NBC’s “The More You Know” programming block on the weekends with:
- Peter Gros, co-host of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom since 1985. Today, he shares the wonders of the natural world with the next generation of conservationists through the series.
- Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant, a wildlife ecologist who studies how human activity influences carnivore behavior and ecology. In 2023, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of hosting a nature series when she joined as co-host of the series.
Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom The Podcast will launch on July 16 on the Audacy app, Apple, Spotify, YouTube, and everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be released weekly on Tuesdays through Oct.1. Listen and follow the show here.
