Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum Among Artists at RADIO.COM Country Music Event “Stars and Strings Presented by Ram Trucks Built to Serve” in Detroit
PHILADELPHIA, PA – November 7, 2019 – Entercom, a leading media and entertainment company and one of the two largest radio broadcasters in the U.S., held its inaugural “Stars and Strings Presented by RAM Trucks Built to Serve,” a RADIO.COM event, in Detroit on November 6. The sold-out concert, hosted by 99.5 WYCD (WYCD-FM), Detroit’s best country, featured musical performances by Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Lady Antebellum, Kelsea Ballerini, Jon Pardi, Brett Young and Ryan Hurd.
As part of Entercom’s continued support for veterans and their families, the company raised over $25,000 for Folds of Honor by donating a portion of the show’s proceeds to the non-profit organization. Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. Entercom has now raised more than $275,000 to support this cause.
“We are grateful to the artists who put on a show to remember for our listeners and fans at our debut ‘Stars and Strings’ show in Detroit,” said Michael Martin, Senior Vice President of Programming and Music Initiatives, Entercom. “The event spotlighted country music’s popularity in the Motor City while enabling efforts to support families of our country’s fallen and disabled service members. We look forward to our upcoming ‘Stars and Strings’ events next month in Chicago and New York, where we can continue delivering unforgettable experiences for our listeners.”
Highlights of the inaugural “Stars and Strings Presented by RAM Trucks Built to Serve” include Jon Pardi dedicating his final song of the evening, “Dirt On My Boots,” to members of the military. Ryan Hurd gave guests an inside look at his Michigan roots by performing “Michigan for the Winter” and Maren Morris closed out the evening’s first act by getting the crowd on their feet to her 2017 hit “My Church.” In the second act of the evening, Brett Young serenaded the crowd to “Mercy.” Fans sang along to Lady Antebellum’s hit song “Downtown,” who also performed their newest single “What If I Never Get Over You,” which is featured on their upcoming eighth studio album “Ocean.” Brett Young and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley also delivered a treat to fans by performing their co-written song “Here Tonight.” Kelsea Ballerini stressed the importance of remaining true to oneself through her new single “homecoming queen?.” Keith Urban closed the evening by thanking veterans on behalf of himself, his wife Nicole Kidman and their kids, and delivered acoustic versions of fan favorites “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and “Coming Home.” The night began with a presentation of colors by members of the United States Marine Corps, which also included guests simultaneously waving mini American flags.
