Cadence13 Launches SheRatesDogs Dating & Relationship Podcast
On Weekly Show Based on Her Popular @SheRatesDogs Platform, Michaela Okland Offers Modern Relationship Advice on the Worst Dates, plus Funny and Irreverent Commentary on the Millennial Experience
New York, NY (August 13, 2020)—Cadence13, a leading premium podcast company and part of Entercom’s Podcast Network, today announced SheRatesDogs, a new weekly podcast based on the popular @SheRatesDogs account where women share their funny and cringe-worthy experiences in the dating world, hosted by founder Michaela Okland and featuring Mat George.
Dating and finding love in the smartphone era is trying. Okland started @SheRatesDogs in December 2018 and it quickly went viral, boasting over 700,000 followers across Twitter and Instagram today. On SheRatesDogs, Okland and George will bring the account to life as a podcast, bringing listeners’ worst and most laughable dating stories—and the worst dating bios—with it. The co-hosts will offer dating and life advice, dishing on the day’s trending topics and sharing their own personal anecdotes. Okland and George will also go deeper, breaking down important social issues, and offering tips on how to spot red flags and how to deal with the negative aspects of social media. Through voicemail confessionals, listeners will be invited to ask questions and share their worst dating and relationship stories.
SheRatesDogs will launch on August 18, 2020 on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, RADIO.COM and everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be available Tuesdays through the season. Listen to the trailer and subscribe to the series here: https://apple.co/3aef4Uy.
“I’ve wanted to turn the SheRatesDogs page into a podcast for a while now! I think collecting hundreds of thousands of these really honest stories about dating would put anybody in an interesting headspace. You really start to identify patterns and underlying issues that I’ve been wanting to discuss,” said Michaela Okland. “Doing this podcast with Cadence13 gives us an exciting opportunity to really take the SRD concept deeper and bring our own personalities into it.”
“Michaela’s sense of humor and authentic approach to the trials and tribulations of dating have made @SheRatesDogs into a must visit online destination,” said Chris Corcoran, Chief Content Officer, Cadence13. “I’m excited for her to build and extend her incredibly original brand and voice into podcasts.”
“I’m very excited to be cohosting the SheRatesDogs podcast with Michaela! I’m a firm believer that representation matters and I think my input and personal experiences will shed light on dating issues seen in the gay community that others also struggle with,” said Mat George.
In addition to @SheRatesDogs, Okland has amassed a personal social media following of over 300,000. She’s been featured in Mashable, The New York Times, and PAPER, and launched a successful accompanying @SheRatesDogs merchandise line. Okland is an advocate for women’s issues, and often uses comedy to shed light on predatory behavior and unjust systems.
