Audacy Pittsburgh’s 100.7 Star Captures Prestigious Crystal Radio Award, presented by the NAB

Audacy’s 100.7 Star (WBZZ-FM) in Pittsburgh has been named one of 10 2024 Crystal Radio Award winners by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). The 37th annual awards winners were announced during the We Are Broadcasters celebration at NAB Show in Las Vegas. 

“Being recognized with a Crystal Radio Award by the NAB is an incredible honor for our station,” said Michael Spacciapolli, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Pittsburgh. “This accolade underscores our unwavering commitment to serving the local Pittsburgh community and this heritage brand’s lasting impact on our listeners. We are proud to serve them and our partners daily and are grateful for this prestigious recognition.”

March: Every year, 100.7 Star supports Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (GPCFB) through the Feed the Need Radiothon, which has helped provide over 3.3 million meals for local people in need throughout the years.

May: Through its More Good Days in May program, the station and its morning show spread the message of mental well-being daily throughout Mental Health Awareness Month. 

October: Wig Out, a sell-out night of fun and outrageous wigs hosted by midday and afternoon personalities Elista and Kelly in support of local non-profit Young Adult Survivors United.

November: Bazzy & Bubba’s TurkeyThon to support those in need of a turkey each Thanksgiving. This year, the morning show provided 1,800 turkeys for local individuals in need.

December: Bubba Show Ugly Sweater party, an annual sell-out event hosted by the station’s morning show, in support of GPCFB.

In addition to the above, 100.7 Star supports Audacy’s 1Thing sustainability initiative, local DE&I events, businesses, and stories with the What’s Good in Your Hood Program, as well as many other local initiatives and community-based programs.

Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their exceptional year-round commitment to community service. The 2024 NAB Crystal Radio Award recipients were chosen from 50 previously announced finalists.

A panel of judges representing the broadcast industry, community service organizations, and public relations firms selected the winners.
