BIG 98.1 (WOGL-FM) morning show host Coop raised over $25,000 during the station’s second annual “Coop’s Miles for Miracles” fundraising walk. All proceeds go towards the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP) Child Life Services Department. 

The walk began on June 8 at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City and ended on June 12 at CHOP in Philadelphia. Coop walked over 60 miles, averaging approximately 12 miles per day, amid the grueling summer sun, in pursuit of his goal to raise money for the families of CHOP.

During Coop’s journey, each day commenced with a broadcast at a designated sponsor location, known as a “Miracle Mile Pit Stop,” to raise awareness for the cause. Participating sponsors included Turnersville KIA in Sicklerville, NJ; Rita’s Italian Ice in Voorhees, NJ; Hoffman Family Law in Blackwood, NJ; and Sport Hyundai in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The event was made possible through the support of presenting sponsors Visit Atlantic City and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, whose partnership was imperative for the launch and execution of the five-day fundraiser.

This mission is deeply personal to Coop, a long-time and passionate advocate for CHOP’s Child Life Services Department. Child Life Specialists are vital in helping patients cope with hospitalization, whether that be through therapeutic play, art and music therapy, special celebrations, preparation for medical procedures, or comfort programs that include visits from therapy dogs. These dedicated specialists provide emotional, developmental and social support to children and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

“Coop’s Miles for Miracles” builds upon BIG 98.1’s longstanding commitment to CHOP. For nearly 25 years, the station’s annual radiothon, hosted by Coop each December, has raised millions of dollars to support the hospital’s mission. With “Miles for Miracles,” Coop expanded that commitment beyond the studio, turning his passion into action and inspiring listeners, sponsors, and community members to join him every step of the way.

Donations continue to be accepted, with funds directly benefiting CHOP’s Child Life Services Department.
