NEW 102.7 Raises Over $16,000 for VEG Cares in New York

NEW 102.7 (WNEW-FM), an Audacy station in New York, raised over $16,000 for VEG Cares during its third “Anthony’s Walk for Animals.” Anthony “Intern Ant” Malerba, co-host of “Karen Carson in the Morning,” walked 13.8 miles on October 16 across Hylan Boulevard, the longest street in Staten Island, to encourage the community to donate and help local animals in need.

“The tristate area came out on a rainy and cold day to bring the heat and sunshine, with over $16,000 donated to the animals in need,” said Malerba. “Our listeners were the motivation to keep walking all the way to the very end. Every year, it’s such an incredible experience to see the power of radio and what ‘Karen Carson in the Morning’ listeners can do. We can’t wait for next year!”

Listeners and the local community came out to support Intern Ant during his trek, including the Staten Island Tech High School Marching Band and Anthony’s Paninoteca, who delivered him a delicious meal to fuel his walk. Co-hosts Karen Carson and Johnny Mingione supported him on the airwaves, giving listeners live updates on the walk’s progress.

VEG Cares helps provide lifesaving emergency care to pets whose families have exhausted their options for paying for treatment, giving them hope when they need it most.

Listeners can tune in to NEW 102.7 (WNEW-FM) in New York on-air and nationwide on the Audacy app and the station website. Fans can also connect with the station via Instagram, X, and Facebook.
