Audacy Announces Return of “Sports Huddle” on 830 WCCO in Minneapolis

PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 27, 2021 – Audacyannounced the return of the Sunday morning show “Sports Huddle” on 830 WCCO (WCCO-AM) in Minneapolis.

Beginning October 10, “Sports Huddle” will air from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CT with hosts Mike Max and Pete Najarian, featuring high-profile interviews focusing on Minnesota sports and interaction with station listeners on the biggest sports topics of the week. The show will be heard on 830 WCCO, as well as digitally live and on-demand via the Audacy app and wccoradio.com.

“We’ve been discussing for a while a show that ‘reboots’ the heritage and equity of the old ‘Sports Huddle’ while exhibiting a new energy and more expansive template for Pete and Mike to talk about all the various topics they’re passionate about,” said Brad Lane, Brand Manager, 830 WCCO. “We’re confident this new edition will help take this legacy brand to the next level, while offering a unique and fresh outlook on the most relevant topics each week.”

“Pete and I can’t wait to continue bringing what we grew up with to our audience,” said Max. “Sundays on WCCO have always meant entertaining and exclusive content.”

Mike Max is a longtime sports voice on 830 WCCO, hosting his weeknight show “Sports to the Max,” since 1998, as well as making daily appearances on “The WCCO Morning News.” The Gaylord, MN native started his career as an intern at WCCO-TV, becoming a sports producer and reporter for WCCO-TV.

“This show will offer listeners a fresh look at sports with straightforward comments and takes,” said Najarian. “We may even mix in some financials when it’s appropriate.”

Pete Najarian is a former Minnesota Gopher football star and NFL player with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings. Pete was inducted into the University of Minnesota Football Hall of Fame in 1992. While at the University of Minnesota, he was three-time Academic All Big-10, and finished as the 2nd leading tackler of all time. Following football, he moved into the financial world, becoming co-founder of MarketRebellion.com, a financial media and education company, as well as best-selling author of both “How We Trade Options” and “Follow the Smart Money.” Najarian is also one of the “Fast Money Five” on CNBC’s “Fast Money and Halftime Report.”

The original “Sports Huddle” ran for over 40 years and was hosted by Sid Hartman with Dave Mona primarily as a co-host.

Listeners can tune in to 830 WCCO (WCCO-AM) in Minneapolis on air, as well as nationwide on the Audacy app and website. Fans can also connect with the station on social media via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
