830 WCCO’s Raises $742,602 During 17th Annual "End Hunger Together Radiothon” in Minneapolis

WCCO (WCCO-AM), an Audacy station in Minneapolis, raised $742,602 benefitting Second Harvest Heartland during its 17th annual “End Hunger Together Radiothon.” This year’s total marks the highest amount raised in the event’s history. All proceeds support the non-profit’s mission to end hunger by providing meals and hunger-relief programs to the local community.

“All I can say is…WOW. This record-breaking result belongs to our fans and sponsors; they didn’t just meet the moment — they transcended it — and the impact will be felt by thousands of neighbors who need it most” said Brad Lane, Brand Manager, WCCO. “Once again this illustrates what’s possible when a community is galvanized by compassion and purpose. We’re incredibly proud to partner with Second Harvest Heartland and honored to use ‘CCO Radio’s legacy platform to help turn generosity into real, measurable impact for families across Minnesota.”

“We are incredibly grateful for our generous community and the generous listeners of WCCO Radio,” said Sarah Moberg, Chief Executive Officer, Second Harvest Heartland. “At a time when more and more of our neighbors are turning to the hunger-relief network for support, every dollar truly makes a difference.”

The radiothon was broadcast live from Second Harvest Heartland and hosted by WCCO hosts Vineeta Sawkar, Jordana Green, Adam Carter, Chad Hartman and Jason DeRusha. Throughout the day, the hosts shared powerful stories of impact with staff and clients of Second Harvest Heartland, as well as current board members and other community leaders. The day was highlighted by a surprise $10,000 donation from Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch and an insightful segment with Dr. Michael Arenson of Hennepin Healthcare on the vital link between nutrition and childhood development. Chef David Fhima and Andy Lindus, principal of Lindus Construction, also joined the broadcast, as listeners across the region called in or donated online to support the cause.

Second Harvest Heartland was created on October 1, 2001, when Second Harvest Great Minneapolis and Second Harvest St. Paul joined forces to bring together more than 44 years of combined history and experience to the fight against hunger. Second Harvest Heartland is among the nation’s largest, most effective hunger relief organizations.
