Today's 101.9’s Annual “Bundle Up Baltimore”
Today’s 101.9 (WLIF-FM) in Baltimore teamed up with The Salvation Army of Central Maryland for “Bundle Up Baltimore,” the station’s annual campaign to collect coats, scarves, hats, gloves, socks, blankets and other warm clothing for those in need in the Baltimore area.
This year’s campaign, which was extended to a week-long event from January 9-14 in partnership with Zips Cleaners – a national dry-cleaning company that began locally in the Baltimore/Washington area – resulted in the donation of 1,887 coats for adults and children, 116 blankets and numerous hats, scarfs, gloves and socks. In previous years, “Bundle Up Baltimore” had been only a one-day event at just two participating locations.
Through live and recorded mentions, email blasts and social media posts, the station encouraged listeners to stop by one of 18 Zips Cleaners locations and donate their new or gently used warm garments to the Salvation Army of Central Maryland. The station capped off the week-long drive with appearances and a live broadcast on January 14 from two Zips Cleaner locations.
The Salvation Army will distribute the children’s’ coats, as well as the hats, scarves and socks, to select schools in the Baltimore area. A portion of the adult coats and blankets have been distributed to St. Vincent de Paul – a local charitable organization – while the rest will be given to a women’s group in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood in West Baltimore.
