Entercom and Scott Shannon Announce Contract Extension

Host to Remain on WCBS-FM 101.1 in New York

PHILADELPHIA, PA – September 1, 2020 – Entercom, a leading media and entertainment company and the #1 creator of live, original, local audio content, announced a new contract extension with on-air personality Scott Shannon. The host will continue on “Scott Shannon in the Morning with Patty Steele” on WCBS-FM 101.1 (WCBS-FM) in New York, weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET, as well as his nationally syndicated weekend countdown show “America’s Greatest Hits.”

Scott Shannon has served as the morning show host for WCBS-FM 101.1 since 2014. His show is listened to by more New Yorkers than any other morning show – ranked No. 1 in cume 6+ M-F, 6a-10a in the just-released Nielsen August 2020 ratings. Scott Shannon also has the largest average quarter-hour share among music station morning shows – No. 1 among listeners 6+. WCBS-FM 101.1 is consistently a top three station in America’s largest city and is currently the No. 1 station among listeners 12+, M-Su 6a-12M, according to Nielsen​.

Prior to joining WCBS-FM 101.1, Shannon was at WPLJ in New York since 1991. He also served as an on-air host for Pirate Radio KQLZ in Los Angeles and WHTZ in New York, where he improved ratings from last to first in just 72 days. One of radio’s most respected music programmers, Shannon helped create and define the “Morning Zoo” format for CHR formatted radio stations. Other stops include WMPS in Memphis, WMAK in Nashville, WQXI in Atlanta, now sister station WPGC 95.5 FM (WPGC-FM) in Washington D.C., and WRBQ in Tampa. Shannon was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2006.
