Award-winning Hollywood Podcast “You Must Remember This” Returns for a Seductive Two-Part Season

In partnership with Cadence13, “Erotic 80s” premieres April 5 and “Erotic 90s” arrives this fall

Los Angeles, CA (March 8, 2022)— You Must Remember This, the hit podcast dedicated to exploring the secret and/or forgotten histories of Hollywood’s first century, returns with sizzling new episodes this spring. Created, written, produced and narrated by Karina Longworth, this two-part season examines sex in Hollywood films during the last two decades of the 20th century. You Must Remember This is presented in partnership with premium podcast studio Cadence13, an Audacy company.

“Erotic 80s” will launch on April 5, 2022, everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be available Tuesdays.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Hollywood movies explored the sexual lives, mores and fantasies of adults with degrees of candor, realism and imagination not seen before or since. Each episode of “Erotic 80s” and “Erotic 90s” will examine a single year, and one or more films that share a genre, a theme or a star, with topics ranging from the politics of porn, to the first camcorder sex tape scandal, to the sexualization of teens, to Hollywood’s lingering fear of interracial coupling.

The first episode will set the scene, illuminating how the Production Code, which censored sex in Hollywood movies since 1934, gave way in 1968 to the ratings system, and the brief legitimacy of the X-rated movie, including Deep Throat and Last Tango in Paris. The additional eleven episodes this season will explore Bo Derek’s debut in 10, Richard Gere in American Gigolo, teen sex comedies like Porky’s and Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Steven Soderbergh’s Sex, Lies and Videotapes, Brian DePalma’s Body Double and much, much more.

Since Longworth launched the podcast in April 2014, You Must Remember This has become one of the top film podcasts, most recently winning the 2021 iHeartRadio Podcast Award in the TV & Film category. Longworth began her career as a film journalist as the co-founder of the pioneering film blog Cinematical, going on to serve as the film editor and critic at LA Weekly. She is the author of books on George Lucas, Al Pacino and Meryl Streep, and her latest book, Seduction: Sex, Lies and Stardom in Howard Hughes’s Hollywood, was released by Custom House in November 2018. In 2021, Karina co-wrote, co-hosted and co-produced Love is a Crime, a limited podcast series for Vanity Fair.
