Audacy and Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Podcasts Launch Improvised Podcast Series “The Chris Chatman Do-over” Starring Ike Barinholtz

In the Second of a Three-Season Improvised Comedy Franchise, Barinholtz Stars as a Controversial Shock Jock Striving to Improve his Reputation

PHILADELPHIA, PA – January 10, 2024 – Audacy today announced the launch of “The Chris Chatman Do-Over,” an improvised comedy podcast series starring actor, comedian, writer, director, and producer Ike Barinholtz as a controversial shock jock striving to improve his reputation. Comedians Lisa Gilroy and Neil Casey co-star as Chatman’s on-air sidekicks.

In “The Chris Chatman Do-Over,” Barinholtz stars as Chris Chatman, whose hit podcast was canceled, but he’s listened, learned, and is back on the mic to finally win over a few female listeners. Or maybe even just one. In each episode, Chatman and his co-hosts Frankie (Gilroy) and the Professor (Casey) unpack hot-button issues with expert guests but offend pretty much everyone in the process. Guest stars include Fred Armisen, Ashley Nicole Black, Jessica St. Clair, Ego Nwodim, Busy Philipps, and Alice Stanley, Jr.

“The Chris Chatman Do-Over” will launch on Thursday, January 11, 2024, on the Audacy app and everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be released weekly through March 14. Listen to the trailer and follow the show here

“The Chris Chatman Do-Over” is Executive Produced by Amy Poehler, Liz Cackowski, Jenna Weiss-Berman, Leah Reis-Dennis, and Adam Pincus of Best Case Studios.

The series is the second in a three-season improvised comedy podcast franchise from Audacy and Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, under the Paper Kite Podcasts banner. The franchise features stories that parody and pay homage to popular themes in the podcast space with characters and stories living in the same, interwoven universe.

The first installment of the franchise, “Say More with Dr? Sheila,” stars Poehler as a fictional world-class therapist and life coach with questionable methods and credentials. The critically acclaimed series was released in September 2023, hit #1 on the Apple Podcasts comedy chart, and was named by the New York Times as one of the “Best Podcasts of 2023.”

The third installment of the Paper Kite Podcasts franchise, “Women Talkin’ ‘Bout Murder,” will be an improvised female-led true crime series satire starring Liz Cackowski and writer, producer, actress, and comedian Emily Spivey. The series is slated to launch in Spring 2024.

“Here at Paper Kite Podcasts we try to create shows that lift people up and encourage them to be their best selves. We also make ‘The Chris Chatman Do-Over.’ Enjoy!” said Amy Poehler.

“Out of all the podcasts out there, this one is the fakest. If you enjoy podcasts where uninformed people spout bad opinions based on false information, ‘The Chris Chatman Do-Over’ is for you,’” said Ike Barinholtz.

“Following Amy’s brilliant performance and the success of ‘Say More with Dr? Sheila,’ we’re thrilled to bring listeners the next installment of Audacy’s hilarious and satirical Paper Kite Podcasts’ slate,” said Jenna Weiss-Berman, EVP, Podcasts, Audacy. “Ike’s sharp wit and natural improv skills make ‘The Chris Chatman Do-Over’ a treat for all.”
