670 The Score Raised Over $750,000 for Second “Cubs for a Cure” Radiothon in Chicago

670 The Score (WSCR-AM), an Audacy station, partnered with the Chicago Cubs for the second “Cubs for a Cure” radiothon and raised over $750,000 for BrainUp, a nonprofit committed to brain cancer awareness. The entire broadcast was simulcast on Marquee Sports Network.

“This wasn’t just our station’s biggest fundraiser ever; it was a powerful testament to our community that we’re in this fight together,” said Mitch Rosen, Vice President of Sports Programming, Audacy Chicago. “We owe it all to our loyal listeners, sponsors, incredible team and our great partner, the Chicago Cubs.”

The 24-hour radiothon began on July 31 at 10:00 a.m. CT and was hosted by former 670 The Score host Danny Parkins, who took on this role as a tribute to his late brother, as well as hosts Marshall Harris, Leila Rahimi, Matt Spiegel, Mark Grote, Ramie Makhlouf and David Haugh. Throughout the day, doctors, patients and caretakers joined the broadcast to share stories of their journeys and the impact cancer has had on their lives. Special guests, including Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney, President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer, Cubs Manager Craig Counsell, former Cubs pitcher Jon Lester, Red Sox pitcher and former White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks, former Blackhawks star Eddie Olcyzk, FOX Sports 1 host and sports radio personality Colin Cowherd and Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl, came on to support the radiothon and encouraged listeners to donate to the cause.

The radiothon was part of “Cubs for a Cure,” a multi-day fundraising effort dedicated to raising funds for the fight against cancer. Other highlights of the initiative included a special Cubs Charities 50/50 Raffle $50,000 guaranteed jackpot, a powerful “ring the bell” ceremony, a Stand Up To Cancer Placard Moment™ and other recognitions. As a result, the effort, in collaboration with AbbVie, Advocate Health Care, American Airlines, Cologuard and Stand Up To Cancer®, collectively raised over $1.5M for the cause.
