Audacy Welcomes Back Lynda Lopez to 1010 WINS on 92.3FM in New York, Brigitte Quinn to Anchor Middays on WCBS 880 as Managing Editor
NEW YORK, NY – January 24, 2023 – Audacy has announced a series of key news programming moves for WCBS 880 (WCBS-AM) and 1010 WINS (WINS-AM / 92.3 FM) in New York.
Veteran journalists Brigitte Quinn and Lynda Lopez will handle midday anchor duties with Lopez joining 1010 WINS and Quinn moving from WINS to sister station WCBS 880, where she will host and serve as Managing Editor of “Newsline,” weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET. In addition, the stations have announced that reporter Sophia Hall has been elevated to Long Island Bureau Chief.
“Since we embarked on our journey of two unique brands but one cohesive news organization, we have made tremendous strides increasing our coverage of the tri-state area and today’s announcements continue that exciting trend,” said Ivan Lee, Brand Manager, 1010 WINS and WCBS 880. “Lynda’s knowledge of New York City is a perfect fit for the legendary 1010 WINS, while Brigitte and “Newsline” allows WCBS 880 to go beyond the headlines. Plus, Sophia’s experience will make sure that we have focused coverage on one of the largest and most important parts of our listening area – Long Island.”
Quinn’s move to WCBS 880 from 1010 WINS comes after she has hosted “Newsline with Brigitte Quinn,” a daily four-hour news program, since 2021. Before that she anchored morning drive at the station for eight years. Her career includes anchoring at MSNBC, NBC News at Sunrise, and FOX Newschannel. In the mid 1990s, Quinn became the first female co-anchor in morning drive on WCBS radio.
Lopez has worked at the local and network levels and brings a wealth of experience in news, entertainment, government and education. She has earned an Emmy for outstanding news program and a place in the prestigious “Who’s Who Among Hispanic Americans.” She joined WCBS-TV as a news anchor before moving to My9 and then FOX 5 in New York in the same capacity. Previous experience also includes WNBC-TV, E! News, ABC News and Audacy’s WCBS 880 and WNEW.
The above changes take effect in mid-February. Additional announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
