PHILADELPHIA, PA – March 28, 2022 – Audacy today announced the launch of two new shows from Audacy’s sports podcast studio in partnership with Major League Baseball. Inside the Monster and Beat the Streak Daily: Inside the Hits will premiere this spring ushering in a new season of baseball.
Inside the Monster, in collaboration with the Boston Red Sox, launching March 31, and hosted by Steve Perrault and Joey Copponi, will have unprecedented access to Red Sox players, club personnel, reporters, front-office and beyond. The series will bring a fresh perspective on the team, games, storylines and personalities throughout the season. The conversational style of the podcast, dropping two times per week in season on Mondays and Thursdays, will take listeners through the legendary organization and aim to bring a deeper connection with the team and player. Interviews include second baseman Christian Arroyo, sideline reporter Jahmai Webster and manager Alex Cora, among others. Listen to the trailer and follow the series HERE.
Inspired by MLB’s popular “Beat the Streak” fantasy game where fans complete by picking players they think will get a hit each day in pursuit of breaking the all-time hitting streak record of 56 games, Beat the Streak Daily: Inside the Hits breaks down each day’s leaderboard and looks at stories that are developing around hitting. Launching April 7 and continuing with new shows every weekday during MLB season, The Score’s Matt Spiegel looks at developing storylines around hitting and offer popular picks for the night’s games – while joined by a variety of special guests.
“I’ve been lucky enough to do several Red Sox shows over the years, but I can’t wait for the connection we’ll have directly with the team through Inside the Monster, said host Perrault. “We’re very excited to ride the momentum of last year’s deep postseason run and give the best behind the scenes look at this Sox team. It’s gonna be a fun summer and we can’t wait to get started.”
“I’ve tried to Beat The Streak for years, with so little success; it’s such a brilliant, difficult game that truly reveals the amazing feats of MLB hitters on a daily basis,” said Spiegel. “I’m extremely excited to now document those hitters, admire the Streakers, and help make all of us a bit smarter as baseball observers along the way.”
Perrault is a lifelong Red Sox fan from Hingham, MA and former co-host of the popular Section 10 Podcast with Barstool Sports. He’s engrained in Red Sox nation – both on the fan and media side – and has conducted interviews with many Red Sox fan-favorites including Pedro Martinez, J.D. Martinez, Alex Verdugo, Mo Vaughn, Tim Wakefield, Kevin Youkilis and several others.
Spiegel has been a talk show host, singer, and columnist in Chicago since 1995, currently co-hosting “The Parkins & Spiegel” show afternoons on 670 The Score, as well as “Hit and Run” on Sunday mornings during the baseball season. He has written baseball columns for The Score, The Daily Herald, USA Today, Baseball Weekly, The Sporting News and more. He hosted nationally on Sporting News Radio for a decade before returning to The Score full time in 2009. Spiegel traveled with and covered the Cubs in their historic 2016 World Series run, broadcasting live from Cleveland, and then from Chicago’s Grant Park for the Rally of a Lifetime. He is also a singer and bandleader in Chicago; his band Tributosaurus considers themselves the Chicago Symphony Orchestra of rock’n’roll. Their jingle “Cubs Score,” plays before and after every game on the Cubs Radio Network.
