It’s Official. THE Trendsetter, Carrie Bradshaw, Pivots to Podcasts.
It’s no urban shoe myth – Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, and Miranda Hobbes are back. With the eagerly anticipated Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That, debuting this month on HBO Max, fans can reconnect with their favorite 30-somethings as these now 50-somethings navigate New York City, friendship, romance, the pandemic, and the technological advances of our contemporary world.
As we anxiously await the return of our favorite on-screen New Yorkers, you can’t help but take a stroll down memory lane. When we left Carrie she was a columnist and author – sharing her pearls of wisdom through the clicks of her keyboard.
But today, Carrie has made the leap into modern media – she’s now a podcast host. Because she’s smart enough to know that podcasts are now simply everywhere. More than half of digital audio listeners are listening to podcasts, up from 44.5 percent to 53.9 percent in just the past two years, with no signs of slowing down1.
And those real-life listeners are gladly carving out time to immerse themselves in these engaging shows – at home, in the car, at the gym, wherever their day takes them, they’re taking their favorite podcasts with them.
So we couldn’t help but wonder, what’s the attraction of podcasts? Who’s listening, and why are they listening so much?
Here’s what we found.
So it would seem that our beloved fashionista has indeed let go of the anchor of who she was to become who she will be – a once-and-future trendsetter who’s finally embracing modern tech to make it her own. So welcome to the podcasting world, Carrie Bradshaw. May you be perfectly happy here.
